Our History

The Beginning:

M&M Walshe was set up in 1981 by Michael and Maureen Walshe. After spending most of their working lives in pork and bacon, Michael and Maureen decided to set up their own business in 1981 when the business run by Maureen’s Uncle was closing. In their early 60’s this would not have been most people’s first choice but Michael and Maureen weren’t ready to stop doing what they loved. That love quickly turned into a successful business which bought Callan Bacon now run by another Uncle of Maureen’s.


The Second Generation:

Michael and Maureen’s two eldest children Geraldine and John joined the group in the late 80’s with Geraldine running M&M Walshe Ltd and John running Callan Bacon. The group continued to grow as did its reputation as a business run with pride and integrity producing Quality Food.


The Third Generation:

John’s eldest children Michelle and Paul joined the group in 2011 and 2010 respectively and have been at the forefront of driving the group’s international growth.


The Culture:

Our Culture has not changed since the group’s foundation, it’s a culture of hard work and pride. If you work hard and are proud of what you do then great food and strong people will follow.
